Phase 4 - Demographic Targeting
image

Stores which fall into matching demographics for the ideal reader will be encouraged to stock a healthy supply on their shelves for impulse sales. An example might be a romantic mystery sold from a store near a beach resort, or perhaps from a hotel's giftshop.

Books will be grouped and promoted on a broader demographic sampling as well. For example, titles that deal with investments, real estate and retirement issues will find their readers in southern, coastal areas of the country. There are specialty booksellers, such as those which carry only mysteries; we will group our presentation accordingly.

Along those same lines, when an author is participating in the Expanded Presentation and they should notify us that they will be travelling over the summer, for example, on a northern route from Washington to Wisconsin, we will work to set up booksignings along that path to coordinate with their schedules.

Bulk purchases by large companies for product support use of the book will also fall into this category. An example might be that their typical customer would be your ideal reader. They could then make a bulk purchase of the book and offer it as incentive to purchase a specified dollar value of merchandise from their store.

Phase 5 -Supportive, Innovative
and Appropriate Advertising

Authors gain not only multi-media representation on the CD, promotion to the retailers, but also the option for a singularly-focused publicity plan, Expanded Presentation, that has been customized to their individual book or goals.

Expanded Presentation should be considered as a budgeted acquisition of a personal publicist. Working on the author's behalf, print, radio, Internet, phone and other means of making your ideal reader aware of your book will be utilized.

Depending upon the monetary commitment the author has predetermined, this may include a sample of the book with press kit sent to a series of organizations whose members fit the ideal reader profile. As example, suppose the book's topic is fitness and maintaining a healthy life-style by building a daily walking program. Membership of organizations such as senior citizens, wildlife conservation, medical personnel, disease-support such as lung, heart and arthritis are but a few of the beneficial connections. The organizations offer member newsletters in which we would advertise the book.

Taking the same book, explore for a moment the commercial viability...perhaps an ad on the Internet site of a large walking shoe manufacturer. Consider a display of the book sold from the hotel gift shop near a national park or inner-city park designed with walking paths.
